Food and Beverage Server

Position: Food and Beverage Server

Department: Restaurant

Responsible to: Restaurant Manager

The Role

To provide a consistently high level of guest care within the department. To maximise all sales opportunities for the hotel.

Main Duties

  • Anticipate guests’ needs, wherever possible, in order to deliver exceptional quality of service and, in turn, guest satisfaction as per SOP.
  • Ensure that your dress, appearance, personal hygiene and behaviour is in line with the company standard at all times
  • Promote a helpful and professional image within the department; ensuring full co-operation is given to colleagues in other departments.
  • To ensure you perform all Restaurant and Bar duties to the required standards of performance for the Company and Hotel.
  • To ensure you implement and comply with the Company and Hotel audit and accounting requirements.
  • To be fully conversant with the company policies and procedures.
  • Maximise all sales opportunities.
  • To follow the Company and Hotel policy relating to guest comments and complaints.
  • Report any maintenance problems and ensure they are rectified, specifically in relation to the comfort of guests and issues of Health and Safety.
  • To comply with Company and all statutory requirements relating for Fire and Health and Safety procedures.
  • To attend any training and departmental meetings, as required.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties, as requested by a member of the management team.



  • The ability to deal with people whilst under pressure in an effective manner.
  • The ability to speak clearly and effectively, demonstrating good
  • An ability to deal with customers with varying disabilities in a sensitive and caring manner.
  • Ability to fit into the team and develop effective and supportive relationships with colleagues.
  • Experience of working in a food and beverage environment.
  • Experience of working in a predominately customer facing role.
  • Experience of handling customer complaints.
  • Excellent time keeping.
  • High dress and appearance standard.
  • Enthusiastic and committed to work.
  • Willingness to learn and take instruction.
  • Ability to work to a rota which includes evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.


  • A knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety procedures.
  • Good numeracy skills.
  • Accurate record keeping.
